RICHFIELD LANDFILL AND THE GENESSEE COUNTY PLAN

Introduction

The Genesee County Plan is relatively simple as there is more than adequate landfill capacity within the county to satisfy the requirements of the period 2001-2010. The county has taken a decision to impose a gate fee of $0.05 per gate yard on all waste received at the landfills located in Genesee County. These moneys will be used to encourage recycling efforts by education and the promotion of local community recycling efforts and to compensate the county for the internal cost of preparing the county plan and for preparing for the next filing, which is due in 2006.

A copy of the Facilities Description for the Richfield Landfill as it appears in the new Genesee County Plan is included in this report, together with a list of counties that are approved for the importation of waste into Genesee County landfills. Of all the counties included, three have placed limits on the amount of waste that can be exported to Genesee County landfills. These are listed below, together with the daily waste transfer limits.

Lenawee County - 1,100Tons per day
Saginaw County - 1,000 Tons per day
Sanilac County - 1,166 Tons per day

All the other counties in the following list have no limitations on the amount of waste they can export to Genesee County landfills.

If a Licensed solid waste disposal area is currently operating within another County, disposal solid waste generated by the EXPORTING COUNTY is authorized by the IMPORTING COUNTY up to the AUTHORIZED QUANTITY according to the CONDITIONS AUTHORIZED in the Current Import Volume Authorization of Solid Waste table.

All counties with no defined maximum daily tonnage are not limited as to the amount of waste they can export to Genesee County during the pendancy of the Current Solid waste Plan.
